On the day when Ubiquity University opens it doors to BA and MBA applications for its May 4 start, President Jim Garrison announces that Ken Wilber will serve as the university’s inaugural chancellor. “Ken Wilber has re-conceptualized our relationship to knowledge and experience and thus provides a key to the transformation of learning. He has cracked a very important code – how to most comprehensively categorize knowledge and experience in a way that enables multi-dimensional thinking and expanded moral judgment.
“Nothing could be more crucial in designing the global education that Ubiquity seeks to make available to learners of all ages around the world,” says Garrison. “Ken Wilber’s integral theory informs Ubiquity’s curricular design. Our goal is to make Ubiquity integral and integral ubiquitous.”
Ken Wilber is the most widely translated academic writer in the U.S, with 25 books translated into some 30 foreign languages. All of his major publications are still in print. “Ubiquity University will be the first fully integral university in the world and I am thrilled to serve as chancellor,” Wilber says. “All the problems facing humanity are essentially global, requiring global solutions. Integral thinking is the key to a truly global perspective. By embracing integral thinking, Ubiquity will shape the education of the future,” expands Wilber.
In commenting on the scope and impact of Wilber’s philosophy to expand our political, religious, and economic perspectives on a global basis, former President Bill Clinton stated at The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, “I was influenced by Ken Wilber’s book, A Theory of Everything.” In reference to Wilber’s book, Clinton expands, “This guy (Wilber) is brilliant.”
“What makes Ken Wilber especially relevant for today’s education is that he is the originator of arguably the first truly comprehensive or integrative philosophy, aptly named “Integral Theory,” states Garrison. As Wilber puts it: “I'd like to think of it as one of the first believable world philosophies. It holds the whole and honors the parts.”
Ken Wilber explains: “In our current post-modern world, we possess an abundance of methodologies and practices belonging to a multitude of fields and knowledge traditions. What is utterly lacking, however, is a coherent organization, and coordination of all these various practices, as well as their respective data-sets. What is needed is an approach that moves toward a genuine “theory of everything” that helps to enrich and deepen every field through an understanding of exactly how and where each one fits in relation to all the others. Through the Integral approach, we reveal the previously unseen possibilities for a better, more compassionate, and more sustainable future for all of us.”
Ken Wilber states: “You can’t realistically honor various methods and fields, without showing how they fit together. That is how to make a genuine world philosophy. This is at the heart of what Ubiquity seeks to achieve through its integral education.”
Ubiquity is now accepting applications for its Founding Class from students on a global basis. Interested students may apply online at http://www.UbiquityUniversity.org.
